Euphoric tonight, flat tomorrow
I know I'm gonna be dead tomorrow but I'm really happy about what I've accomplished today. In brief, I'd been dissatisfied with the shape and direction of my "Generation Between" project. It originally consisted of (5) journal entries and a couple of "leftovers" that didn't seem to fit. So I decided to "drill down" in my LiveJournal for additional entries that might be compatible.
Once those were integrated, the rest seemed to work and the overall project doubled in size. In addition, I successfully revised another entry which potentially defined an important theme but which, like its writer, remained stubbornly flawed. With that accomplished, the project has a direction I can live with and I feel ready to work on a final entry that I'd roughed in earlier but needed to finish.
It also occurs to me that there's another project, of comparable length and related subject matter, that's been languishing for months, due to a similar lack of motivation and direction. At this point in either project, it's truly a stretch, but I'm wondering if the two might eventually be merged into something approaching book length. In the meantime, I'm gonna consider breaking off some pieces as trial submittals to whatever magazine might be appropriate.
Anyway, that's how it looks tonight. We'll look again tomorrow when, bleary-eyed and drained of euphoria, the real world comes back into focus...
