Perfect Storm

thisnewdayThe dryer is back together and running. And it's drying clothes. Which is one of the things we were hoping it might be persuaded to do, once again. What I don't know is whether it'll complete the cooling cycle and then shut off. I don't know this because I've run three loads of clothes through it without letting it shut down on its own.
I've done that because we're behind on laundry and the trickle of water, which had been showing up around the water heater and then disappearing, is there all the time now. Earlier on, I thought it might have been another area of seepage through our damaged foundation wall. But this afternoon, on one of my trips downstairs to check/unload/reload the dryer, I took the extraordinary measure of bending over - I can do that, now - and dipping my fingers in it. It was definitely warm. Which means it's definitely from the water heater.
Which is about how it goes when, through circumstances beyond your control or simple neglect, you allow yourself to get behind in matters of home maintenance. In this household, the past 2-3 years have been a mounting perfect storm of both. So now, before I even know if the dryer's gonna hold up for more than a few more days, I've gotta start shopping for a water heater - which we'll install ourselves - or a tankless hot water system which we'll have someone install.
In the meantime, the lungs have definitely started to clear although I'm still having trouble with this incredible fatigue which feels like it's dragging at my feet and threatening to pull me down...
