How it Happens

Without a name, above the picture, I wouldn't have recognized the face. OK, so it's been almost fifty years. But, then, that's how it happens.

You know, that moment of confusion that briefly comes because you've always pictured them as they were back then, when you saw them last. And because, in memory, you've kept them young, never subjected to the pressures of life, the wearing process of time.

So rest in peace, my young, laughing, mischievous, adventurous cousin, rest in peace...
