lipstick for flies
Nov. 28th, 2007 09:19 pmLittle Jay is sitting in his chair at the dining room table. His dad is sitting a few feet away from him at the computer. I'm in the kitchen putting away dishes and only half listening.
The little boy is puzzling over a tube of bee's wax lip balm that he's found on the table. He's doing his best, with his pre-reading skills, to discern the purpose of the object he's holding. And he figures that the picture of the flying insect on the tube may be an important clue.
Finally, he has a hypothesis that seems worth trying. "Daddy," he asks, "is this lipstick for flies?"
