Hey, I'm Just Sayin'
Feb. 28th, 2008 07:53 amI'm taking a break from my work on a previous journal posting when I decide to sit down in front of the TV. It's almost 8 AM and I'm still waiting for my wife to call for her ride home from the overnight shift at the hospital. The final credits for Edward Burns "Confidence" have just finished rolling when along comes one of those odd interjections from the Indie Film Channel.
In front of the camara, more or less, is an unruly quartet of young guys who look like they've been partying all night. One of them, who's apparently their spokesman, raps on his side of the screen for the viewer's attention. "Hey," he says, glancing at his watch, "the movie's over. It's a little late for your wife to be at work, isn't it? Hey, I'm just sayin'..."
He looks out from the screen with arched eyebrows, shrugs his shoulders and the spot ends. It's now after 8 and I'm still waiting for that phone call. Hey, I'm just sayin'...
