Progress Report
Aug. 20th, 2008 12:00 pmOne lap on the Henninger High School outdoor track is a quarter mile. This morning, I did five laps. That's one more than I'd done the previous 3-4 days. I've also reached, and successfully maintained, the moderately fast walking pace that I was accustomed to before my surgery.
I still need to come home and nap, for an hour or so after my walk, and take periodic breaks throughout the day. But I'm feeling less pain and seeing measurable progress. And I'm starting to think about quiting the pain meds, which will produce some benefits as well.
The next landmark in the recovery process, though, is my second post-op exam scheduled for September 3rd. If I'm still on track, by then, I'm hoping to be cleared for physical therapy. Which will no doubt bring its own challenges. And, hopefully, a few tangible rewards for having endured the whole process...
