Is It Time?
Aug. 29th, 2008 08:27 amIs it time to take them down? You know, the posters on the wall above my computer, the ones for the Dubuque Colts 2008 season.
The one with the lovely, fated Bianca smiling that smile and reaching out to the audience from a swirl of sequined, silken skirts and pastel flags. Or the one right next to it that announces, "2008 Auditions and Rehearsals," and then declares, "It's not just half-time anymore, IT'S THE GAME!"
They've been up there since almost this time last year and, yeah, they're a little faded, the paper yellowing, the corners curled. Still, I think about the inspiration they've brought, the reminder they've been, along with Greg Orwoll's words of encouragement and hope, to dig deep and rally together in the face of times when the effort has fallen just a little short.
Yeah, I think about those words, and about those good people half a continent away, and I think that maybe I'll leave these reminders of them up where I can see them, every day, for just a little bit longer...
