Dear Emmett,
I've not been back to Erie many times in recent years, but when I have I've always driven by the house on East 35th where my sisters and I had such good times with Kenny and Carol.
I guess I was hoping that, one of those times, you'd just happen to be outside so that I could stop and talk. Funny I should feel that way since you and Jeanette had always been the most approachable adults in any of our lives.
I guess I would've said thanks for teaching all of us how to play baseball and how I found myself, many years later, imitating your patient way of teaching with my own son and daughters and grandson.
You could say, I suppose, that your legacy lives on through them. And that's a wonderful thing. But I truly wish that, one of those times, I'd just come to your door and told you, face-to-face.
Rest in peace, old friend...
Best always,
Larry
