Sleepless in Syracuse
Jan. 2nd, 2012 04:49 amIt's 4:30 AM and, as a consequence of now being awake, I'm going to be dead tired in the morning. Nevertheless, I'm still hoping to crawl back into what passes for a bed and, after tossing and turning a bit, to finally surrender to that more-or-less unconscious state of horizontal flatness which momentarily relieves this more-or-less waking state of vertical uprightness and to thereafter sleep, "perchance to dream."
Then, all too soon, the phone will ring and Her Nurseliness will be on the other end of it wanting to know how soon I can get there to bring her home so that she may assume her own unconscious state of horizontal flatness after having stated that she must be vertically upright again by 3:30 PM and please don't forget to mail those bills which have too long resided in their own state of flatness on the dining room table.
And with that, gentle reader, I bid you goodnight...
