Going Home
Jul. 27th, 2017 10:51 amMy oldest daughter and her four kids are getting ready for their return flight to California. They've been here for about 3 weeks and it's been noisy, messy, and fun.
Once home, they'll have about a week and a half before the start of school. Ana will be starting high school, Elliot will be starting Jr. High, Nikky will be home-schooled by his mom, and Paulie will be in Kindergarten.
Their mom sees to it that they lead busy, productive lives and shows infinite patience in handling their inevitable squabbles and kid-typical missteps. They're engaging, personable, and very individual. And it's obvious that their mom and dad have done a wonderful job of raising them.
So, around noon today, after the rental car is loaded for the airport, and last goodbyes are said, this will be a quiet place again. But in many ways, for the one left behind, it will never be the same...
