Got up at 4 AM for the second day in a row. Yesterday, it was because some moron rang my doorbell at 3:45 and I couldn't get back to sleep. Don't know if it was some drunk who walked up to the wrong house, or what, but nobody was there when I got to the door.
Have been hampered, the past two days, by having jacked up my lower back carrying in an unexpectedly heavy and cumbersome box into the house from the Home Depot. Have had to skip 2 days of workouts because of it, although I've still done my walks.
Before all of that, I'd gone into the city and disassembled the lacrosse goal we had at the house for my grandson and brought it here. It needs to be cleaned up, which I've started doing, and welded where the tubing is cracked around a hinge bracket.
My son-in-law is supposed to find someone to do the repair because he still knows people in the trades and because the goal, once adorned with the new net I've ordered for it, is for their middle daughter Maizie. She's an up-and-coming soccer player and the lacrosse goal will serve well enough for backyard practice.
That whole crew is going to Enchanted Forest Water Park for the day, so I'm on my own. Ordinarily, I'd count on getting some projects underway or even finished up but, with the messed-up back, I dunno. Gonna do the walk again--maybe increase to 2 miles--and possibly try the stretches. Probably take a nap too. And unplug the damn doorbell.
It's also the last day of the NY State Fair where attendance has exceeded 100,000 per day for a record number of days this year. They had almost 40K at a concert last night alone.
Never was a big fan of the fair, myself. The nightmare parking, the obnoxious drunks, the governor picking my pocket. This is the first year that I've really been settled in here--west of the city and in the general vicinity of the fairgrounds--and it took me almost an hour to get home after dropping the grandson off on the eastside. So, after the final fireworks show tonight, it's "Hasta la vista, baby, I won't miss ya."
Hope everyone has had a safe and happy Labor Day weekend...
