Genius, Right?
Oct. 6th, 2019 07:00 pmAbout mid-morning, I drove cross-town to the Bed Bath & Beyond down on the Boulevard to look at a Sherpa throw for my bed. A couple of nights ago, I'd frozen my a$$ off due to a complex combination of factors including the cooler weather, not having turned on the furnace, and not having put anything heavier on the bed that the polyester throw that I'd slept under all summer. With, you know, the A/C on.
The night after that, I went down to the master bedroom and retrieved the queen-size blanket which I'd left folded on the bed the last time I slept down there. Which was months ago.
That was warm enough, alright, but far too bulky for the single bed I now sleep on and, you know, totally the wrong color for the decor. No smart-a$$ comments, please. So I started looking close to home--Tar-jhay and Walmart down on West Genny-- then a little farther--JCPenney and Macy's at the Destiny mall--and then finally the BB&B, this morning, over on the east side. For, you know, something stylish as well as functional.
It made sense to do so today because I'd been hyperventilating like a pre-teen girl at a Billie Eilish concert over not having anything to read since finishing A Gentleman in Moscow last night, and there's a Barnes & Noble at the same end of Erie Boulevard. So I picked up Amor Towles' earlier novel, Rules of Civility, at the B&N and then found the Sherpa throw I'd been looking for at the BB&B.
When I got home, I decided to throw the blanket I'd been using into the washing machine before throwing the new throw on my bed. Which I did. And later took a very comfortable nap under the two throws which I'll be using from now on. But that wasn't the fun part of my day.
That was when I decided to go down to the basement and move the blanket I'd washed over to the dryer--and discovered that the soccer shoes I'd been drying for 2 days under the heat lamp in the utility sink were also directly under the drain hose from the washing machine.
Apparently, being warm and rested at night doesn't necessarily result in full brain function during the day.
Guess I'm gonna have to work on that...
