This afternoon, I met my son at the Mello Velo Bike Shop & Cafe to see if we could get his seatpost problem taken care of along with one we'd discovered in the gear cassette after they'd installed it on the new rear wheel.
And we did. As always, they were very accommodating, wire brushing the inside of the frame where the seatpost is inserted and shimming some loose cogs in the gear cassette. Then I followed him home and we installed the seatpost along with the seat that he'd decided to use.
The problem came when he went into the house to get some tools and the seat. He'd taken off the front wheel to make the bike easier to transport and had left it standing on the sidewalk balanced on the back wheel and the tips of the front forks. But as he was walking away from the it, the bike started to tip.
I was standing on the sidewalk next to it and, as it started to fall, I made a grab for it. I honestly have no idea how I did this but, as I lunged to grab it, I realized I couldn't catch it, and instead managed to leap over it and land on my feet on the other side of it.
I've just gotta say that I have nothing remotely like this is in my daily fitness routine and it's a miracle that, at minimum, I didn't do a full face-plant on the front lawn.
When I got home, I realized that I must've tweaked my left shoulder in the process and am now considering whether to do my afternoon workout or just get the bike out and try to get in my second ride before the next storm.
I'm pretty lucky, I realize, to have that choice--especially after what just happened.
My best to everyone...
