A United States Navy FA-18 Super Hornet just did a barrel roll at about a thousand feet directly overhead as I was standing in the parking lot at the hotel. It was part of the Syracuse Air Show at Hancock International Airport this weekend.

The ground stopped shaking a few seconds after he passed. Can't say the same for the ringing in my ears, LOL...

A little late on the turnaround here - I hate airshows. Not because of what they do, but because when there is a crash - and there isn't, all that often but still - people are killed. And not just the people doing the stunt. What if the plane had crashed into the hotel? Or houses?

Yeah, I share your sentiments actually. Especially in view of the fact that the Navy's Blue Angels canceled due to a training accident, just the week before, in which one of their pilots was killed.

Maybe it's just that I'm getting old - and feel driven by that to consider my own mortality - but there are so many things that I look at these days and wonder, "Why the hell do we do that?"

Even kid's sports, maybe those especially, because there's so much to be lost there. You know, concussions etc.

Hope things are at least tolerably well with you. I'm not able to get around the 'net, for the time being, like I once did...

When they announced the Air Show I was in the car with my friend Evelyn and I said something about the Blue Angels and their 'accident' when they crashed into Lake Ontario (many years ago...). I said I didn't like them being here. She was visiting family when she heard about the most recent crash and immediately said *I would be happy* that they weren't going to be here. No, no. I would be happy if they cancel the air show. All air shows over populated areas, in fact.

Tolerable just about covers it.
