This Bites

thisnewdaySo far, on this trip west, I've been to Folsom and El Dorado Hills CA, Gilbert AZ, and the dentist. Have had lots of fun with the two older kids and their families, but not so much with the dentist. Had a tooth extracted Saturday and am now attempting to type while holding an ice pack against my still-swollen jaw. As a result, my three minutes per word typing speed has dropped to four or five.
I'm guessing that I may have to go back to la dentista for a course of antibiotics. I'm also wondering why that wasn't done prophylactically, since there was an infection to begin with. Dare i say it? Of course. Just try and stop me. This bites.
Still, despite the discomfort, have actually had some fun. The grandkids, including the newest one here in AZ, are really interesting little kids. And their parents, our two oldest, seem to have their acts together, which is always gratifying.
I'm also looking forward, later this week, to visiting my aunt and uncle in Dewey AZ. My aunt is a fiction writer and poet and, despite our shared interest in writing, we've been out of touch for the past several years. Really wish I had more to show her--even a healthy stack of rejection notices would be something--but it'll be good just to see her.
For now, gonna replenish the ice and then try to get some sleep. Nothing planned for tomorrow (today), really, but some folks feel their house guests should at least be conscious during daylight hours. Guess that's not too much to ask...
