Loose Screw on a Winter's Day

thisnewdayLost a screw out of my glasses, as I was getting ready to head over to the community center for my treadmill walk, couldn't remember where I'd stashed my spare set, and by the time I'd fumbled around finding tools and getting the lens back in, the center was closed.
So I drove out to one of the high school tracks, where I walk in the warmer seasons, and found that someone had actually shoveled a path around its perimeter. And God bless 'em, lol, because I hadn't considered how much it had snowed or that I'd need my boots rather than the walking shoes that I wear indoors.
However, since whoever did the shoveling had followed the outside perimeter of the 6-lane, 1/4-mile track, the distance was gonna be substantially more than the quarter mile which I use to measure my walks. Wonder who I should complain to about this, lol? (Just imagine the whining, here, if nobody had shoveled and I'd had to walk the walk in my low-sided shoes.)
So anyway, like the brave lad my father raised--whoever that is, I've never met him--I did 4 laps and figured that I'd done at least a mile-and-a-half, which is my normal distance. And even if it was less, I didn't care. There's always a wicked wind whipping down through there, across one corner of the football field which is surrounded by the track, and the ambient temp was only 19 degrees to start with.
On the other hand, it WAS bright and sunny, something us SAD sacks always appreciate--if we're not too depressed to notice, lol.
So now I'm home and, having picked up a cheapo version of the tool I need for my airgun modding project, I'm looking forward to an afternoon of work in my WELL-LIT shop, lol.
