We actually did get some of the snow that the news media were promising, but it's not nearly the snowy apocalypse we were led to imagine. I can't even picture what would happen, in the historical arc of Western Civilization, if we were subjected to just one storm like ones we routinely experienced when I was a kid. Seriously.

I know it's probably different in varying locales and at different elevations, yadda-yadda-yadda, but c'mon. And it's not that I want to be out there shoveling the snowy crap any more than the next one, but I was fully prepared to wait out a couple of days without having to so much as leave my house.

I had stockpiles of food, blankets, and ammo, and the gas tank in the car was topped off in case of, you know, an emergency evacuation ahead of Stormageddon.

Then, this afternoon, because it'd all been for naught and I thought we'd be going to the granddaughter's soccer game, I went outside, cleared off and warmed up the car, and shoveled the end of the driveway that doesn't get plowed. And then the wooses canceled the games.

All of which suggests, at least to me, that life is more likely to get blown off the tracks by the wide assortment of snowflakes already on the ground than the ones predicted to (maybe) fall from the sky...
