Doing OK, I guess. About to finish watching the last disc from the ninth and final season of "The Office," American version. And just got the book about it by Rolling Stone magazine's Andy Greene.
Also just finished Mickey Rapkin's "Pitch Perfect: The Quest for A Cappella Glory," the book that the three "Pitch Perfect" movies were based on. And still have the movies to watch.
And gonna pick up the grandson after work tonight. He's the one who insisted I should watch "The Office" and lent me his box set to get me started. So I'm guessing we'll have something to talk about, lol.
Hope things are OK with you and the family. Books, movies, and the one kiddo are mostly how I'm making it through these crazy times...
Sorry for the delay. I had a triggering event occur and been emotionally detached and dissociating. :( Trying to get my feet back under me and the hamster wheel brain running smoother.
THE OFFICE is a show I've watched some episodes of but not all of them. I've enjoyed what I've seen but never been invested in it before. It comes on Comedy Central some nights and depending on what is going on, I may watch an episode or two. I hope you have enjoyed the series and it's been a bonding thing. Having something to talk about is always good w. the teenagers IMO. To qualify that, something 'else' than personal stuff.
Crazier times going on each day it seems... Can't believe it is finally February tomorrow. January seems like it lasted 2 mths and how was Christmas just a little over a month ago instead of 6mths?
Mike turned 70 on the 21st. He's having some issues w. diabetes and w. his back again. Still driving the bus though bc retirement did not work out anything close to what we had planned or expected.
Books, movies, trying to keep the house and family going... Mostly reading some crap books free on Kindle unlimited, nothing to mention but they so the job to occupy the brain. Cozy mysteries and sometimes w. witches. There seems to be an endless amount of series on Amazon. But of note, the latest Alice Hoffman book was good, book 4 of the PRACTICAL MAGIC series. THE BOOK OF MAGIC. It's a series I have read as published, the movie PRACTICAL MAGIC based on one of the bks.
I've had my booster shot 2 wks ago and W cannot find her paper... going to have to get her to CVS to get it when I can get her out of the house and CVS can pull up her records. Takes time and most of my energy to deal w. her. She's in therapy again (therapist was out for a few mths w. having pre-mature twins) and we're back to the point of dealing w. dental work. Namely, removing the 7 or so remaining top teeth and fit w. a denture. A partial plate on bottom - we bought the plates 2 plus years ago and then she had a breakdown over losing her teeth and the work was not finished. A combo of anorexia, bulimia, and not brushing. We got her to almost 20 w. decent teeth and now she's 32, having smoked cigs since she was 18. I've just broken over it. I don't know if she's ruined her remaining bottom teeth or not. I know she's going to hate the plates like I do. She's to the point where it has to be done.
How is the weather in NY? You're mid state? Here outside Huntsville it is a mild and pretty day. I was able to walk (about 20 min) today and yesterday.
Supposed to have that winter storm moving in from the mid-west on Wed I think. We yo-yo between mild days and then extreme cold. When we had snow a few wks ago, on Friday and Sat I was wearing sleeveless gowns bc it was in the 60's - then Sunday temps began to drop and we had about 4 inches of snow Sunday night and into Monday.
That's OK, I so often get caught up in things in a way that totally derails my best efforts and intentions. In fact, I may still owe you a reply from a previous post.
The Office series was a Godsend, at the time I was watching it, as was Andy Greene's book which I read following it. As I think I've said, I did find it both dark and cringe-inducing at times and felt that the quality really fell off following Steve Carell's departure from the show following season seven.
I also read the book on which the three Pitch Perfect movies were "loosely" based. Found the book to be, um, not overly engaging but the first movie almost as cringe-worthy as The Office. Problem is, that's the intention of The Office but not of the movies.
My intention was to fill the 2-month holiday gap between book club meetings, which I sort of did with my Office binge, but the book club has been a disappointment since.
I'm not a mystery novel fan anyway, and we're on our 3rd murder mystery as of this month with a 4th coming up next month. So I'm seriously considering taking a break even though it's the only thing I do outside of the house besides grocery shopping and Home Depot.
I'm so sorry to hear about the continuing health challenges and can definitely relate to the dental issues your daughter has been dealing with.
I had the same thing for years but despite the inconvenience, change in appearance, etc, I have actually been very happy, overall, with my dentures and wish I'd gotten them years ago. I truly hope that your daughter eventually feels the same.
The weather here in Central New York, as we're referred to, has been in single digits the past couple of weeks but, as our friend halfmoon_mollie has noted, we're a couple of feet below our seasonal average for snowfall. Personally, my back and I can live with that but I do understand her concerns about the evidence it suggests for global climate change.
Well, my grandson has requested a ride home from school tomorrow and, since he only attends a half day, I've gotta get going so I can get up in the AM.
Hope you've had a good evening and a good day ahead tomorrow...
