Pinter and the Wall of Everyday
Dec. 27th, 2008 01:39 pmHarold Pinter, Nobel Laureate and British playwright, has died. Reading the blurb that accompanied the announcement has reinforced that I'd like to get back to things literary in my own life.
He's said to have influenced Sam Shepard and David Mamet, among others, here in the U.S. Based on his politics, it appears he may also have influenced the shoe-throwing journalist of Baghdad. (So, awright, I don't set a very high bar for my heros these days.)
Anyway, what's sometimes needed is an avenue, a doorway, a fault line somewhere in the wall of everyday. And, after that, the root and its tendril pushing up through...
