one of the things you've gotta help us with is stemming the slaughter of young blacks taking place in this city. The older brother of one of the aids on my wife's floor was shot to death on the South Side just before Christmas, leaving behind a little boy whose mom was already in prison.

Then, just after the New Year, the son of another aid was stabbed multiple times at an after-hours club in the same part of town. His liver, pancreas, and heart were all penetrated and he's in critical condition and breathing with a ventilator.

Special thanks to George W. Bush who discontinued federal support for the community policing programs which had shown such promise under the Clinton administration. Because, of course, even the doubters among us have come to understand the importance of securing the streets of Baghdad.

before you talk to the President, talk to the Governor. (whom, I believe, is doing the best he can with what little he has!)

This is a time to be a dreamer of dreams and a poet whose words build castles in the air. But it's tough when everything around you is crumbling.
