thisnewdayi've done as much
as i've been able, lately:
the basement stairs
are now clear
of the debris of
wasted years
and the windows
that once were there
are all covered;
but when it rains
and the ice melts,
as it soon will,
and the water runs
across this
subterranean floor
and is visible
in the dim light
of fluorescent lamps
not yet warm,
chances are
if you venture there,
or other places
you've not been
in recent years,
i'm sure you'll think of
promises made
and myriad things
left undone...
