a few words saved

perhaps i'll start,
again,
with a thin, little
book of things

a few words saved
from this grief
or that,
something

from along the edge
where it's
not too fierce
or deep

(god knows
i couldn't
handle that)

where sudden torrents
once released can
never be
put back

(how then
might i explain
the silences
that ring,

the careful steps
upon the stair
still taken
as if
you were
here...)

that child is lost

this sadness
over losing the baby
is palpable,
he said.

it's not as if
he's died,
she said.

the caring,
sensitive child
he was
will not survive where
he now is;

that child
is lost
to us,
he said...

ah, these poems make me sad...

I'm glad you are writing.

a) touched the rage - if I give in, I might not come back. Worse - I could take someone else with me - but the edge is suddenly here when I'm looking over there - a dance,

b) loss - of a child - is loss - loss of all that potential love, life, sharing in the newness of their world. Lost but not gone. A constant ache, a never ending wonder.

thanks for the insight

really - so many words ... I don't have them.

ironic that pain can make a common bond

I'll shut up now.

Peace
