The Effect of Working with a Great Teacher
Mar. 5th, 2011 08:56 amI think I'm finding my voice in the classroom again. And I owe that to the teacher who's given me the opportunity to really work with kids, as opposed to simply passing out papers and sharpening pencils. I'm still glad to do the latter because my job, first and foremost, is to help maximize the instructional time and effectiveness of the professional educator in the room.
But another thing I've noticed is how this experience is affecting certain aspects of my own life. I went into this hoping to positively affect the lives of children and, again thanks to the excellent teacher I'm working with, I think that's happening. But it's also brought about some subtle changes in my own attitudes and behaviors which I'm hoping will generate its own cycle of positive action in my own and others' lives.
Including, of course, that of my own grandson...
