At their first joint examination at the pediatrician's office, both twins were pronounced healthy. And Amelia weighed in at 5 lbs. 5 ozs. while her little sister Layla tipped the scales at 4 lbs. 3 ozs. So both are thriving at home: eating, sleeping, gaining needed weight.
Their mom also seems in good spirits for one struggling to survive in a sleep-deprived state. I told the mother of the twin boys on Jason's soccer team about our newest family members and, after congratulating us, she commented that she hadn't slept for about the first year.
When I perhaps inadvisedly passed this on to Sarah, she said, "Well, at least I know it gets better sometime." And added that she'd talked to others who'd said that if you could survive the first year with twins you could survive anything.
Which I guess may confirm that where there's life, there's hope. And vice versa...
