Took my first outside ride, this morning, on Allegro. I had decided to pull the crank arm, on the chain ring side, one more time to see if I could find the source of (1) the intermittent "clunk" and (2) the vibration at higher speeds.

I was pretty sure the former was in the chain ring assembly and wanted to make sure everything was tight before I took it on the road. It seemed like a toss-up between the bike and the trainer being the source of the vibration.

And, since the weather was nice, I decided to do that work outside. Where I found basically nothing, although I did confirm that everything in the chain ring/crank assembly was tight.

Then, having brought the tools back inside, I just on impulse decided to take that first ride of the outdoor season.

And so I did, and it went well. I wasn't totally gassed when I got back, thanks to my winter rides on the Alpcour trainer but, as I'd known from my 7 years as a bicycle commuter, it's not the same. There's just no way to duplicate what you get from riding on the road unless you have some super-expensive, programmable trainer--which I certainly don't.

And then, as I was thinking about getting my strength routine done, before tonight's Nar-Anon meeting, I went out and rode the circuit again. Call me crazy, lol.

So now I've gotta get my fitness routine done, then shower, shave, and dress, before the 7 PM meeting. So, gotta go.

Hope everyone's had a good Memorial weekend, preferably with family and friends...
