State Testing v. The Slump

Well, spring break and soccer camp are over. Jason is back in school and faces state-wide, standardized testing in ELA and math this week and next.
The buzz in education circles is that 10s of thousands of families across New York State have joined the movement to "opt-out." And while I have some very significant objections to these tests and their intended uses--especially as a tool for rating teachers--I'm just too old and tired to wade into a political battle involving my grandson's education.
Right now, I'll just be happy to get him through the slump he seems to have experienced in his transition into middle school...
