A Marker in Time

This is more of a marker, along the timeline of my life, than the kind of journal entry that I'd like to be making.

It's simply to say that I've been working again on editing the online format, and some of the content, of my LiveJournal and importing some of the "better" stuff to the hard drive of my desktop computer where I subsequently generate the hard copy that I'm putting in a ring-binder for whatever purpose it may ultimately serve for myself or my children or grandchildren.

Because of incompatibilities between the various formats involved, and my own limited understanding of them, it's an arduous and almost wholly mechanical process, although it's occasionally rewarded with a flash of insight, an encounter with a well-turned phrase, or the simple sharpening of a valued memory.

As I said, there are other things I might rather be doing. But the fact is that there exists such profound stress and heartache and physical and emotional pain in these present times that I'm not really sure that I'd be capable of recording, or be willing to share them, anyway...

Every once in a while I try to gather material from my LJ to make a hard copy. But I never get caught up totally. Long process. But if you can compile something that can be read later by your family and other interested persons then it will be worth it I think. Sorry you are having painful present times - maybe it is best to try and gather from the past good times right now then.

As always, appreciate your comments and, of course, the great things you share on your journal as well. And yes, it may well be that the timing of this undertaking is driven in part by present circumstances...
