Ear Damage

You know, where you think you hear something, from behind that curtain of light show lights and drum thunder, that sounds like poetry. So you search out a site that has the lyrics and move the cursor to the title and click. And instead of poetry you get... "The Powerful Oz," fumbling, embarassed, incompetent. Or worse, incoherent.
And you think, oh well, they were twenty-something kids, back then, so what did you expect? So you crank up the volume, again, but you've lost the illusion, quite irretrievably. And all that's really left is, what, ear damage?
Well, maybe that's a little harsh. And maybe I said it because I hate coming close, but only so close, to the real thing. And because I sometimes have that feeling about my own life. Without, of course, the light show and music, their confluence with words, the momentary showering of pyrotechnic glory...
