Restart

So I cleaned the upstairs "fitness room," where the grandsons and I had slept during their just-ended trip to the east coast, brought the small amount of equipment I have back upstairs, and restarted my daily fitness routine.

There's not much to it, to begin with, and after more than a month's layoff, due to illness and the out-of-town company being here, it's now reduced to even less. Fewer reps, less weight, etc. No longer an "old man's workout," it's more like a "feeble old man's workout."

But based on many years of experience, and a certain knowledge of self, I knew that this would be the best way. So I fired up the computer, pulled up my last routine, and basically reduced the reps to just 10 for each exercise.

My plan, in the days ahead, is to add 2 reps per day to each exercise until I reach the 30 or 40 that I had been doing. And if, as I get closer to that final number, I begin to feel that "it's too much too soon," I'll just hold, for a day or two, at whatever number I've reached by then.

With all that's been going on, I honestly considered just saying to hell with it and hanging up the gloves. But by the end of it, as light as it intentionally is, I actually felt a little of that seratonin boost that's associated with a decent workout.

So maybe this will turn out to be a piece of what I need to cope with the awful depression and anxiety that's been dogging me for the past several days.

I know that I desperately need something, actually a number of things, and if this turns out to be one of them then I'll do my best to keep it up...

Exercise is good in many ways, both emotionally and physically. Good
To hear you're back at it.

All good here. I'm back to walking in the park most days and doing some yoga. Went to a Jerry Garcia birthday bash and even got into dancing.

You have no idea LOL. As Ida Cox sang way back in the 20's, "Wild Women Don't Have the Blues."
