Why I Hate It When My Cell Phone Rings
Dec. 3rd, 2017 03:13 pmBy early this afternoon, I had the kitchen cleaned up, the groceries bought, and the veggies cut up for the chili I was making for the dinner my grandson and I share on Sundays when he comes here to wash his clothes.
As I was getting ready to leave the house to pick him up, I noticed I was almost out of chili powder so decided to stop at the store, which is on the way. And that's where I was when my cell phone rang.
"Hey Poppa, where are you?"
"At the store."
'My mom and Jeremy just got a washer and dryer, so I won't be coming over to do my clothes today."
"Oh. Well, tell them I said congratulations."
"OK, thanks. Maybe I can come for dinner tomorrow night, after my basketball game."
"OK, see you then. Love you, bye."
"Love you, bye."
In the meantime, I'd been invited to dinner at my daughter and son-in-law's and had turned down the invitation due to the now-cancelled laundry day. Luckily, I was able to get the dinner invite reinstated and afterwards I'll be going to watch the granddaughter's Sunday night soccer training at the Pine Grove Country Club.
Which takes care of today. Still to be answered is the question of whether the kid will now commit to any sort of regular work schedule here or if that's also down the drain, so to speak, with laundry day. And whether, as I've suggested he should, he'll use that opportunity to earn the money for his mom's Christmas present.
Because, as I think he learned with respect to his laundry, these things are now more and more up to him...

Date: 2017-12-04 06:38 pm (UTC)And Anah and I had a disagreement on Sunday, followed by a long discussion bathed in tears. It did reveal that basically she was angry at her mom for being gone and using me as her whipping boy. I hope we are on a better footing now, but the whole left me feeling like crap today both emotionally and physically. "Love Hurts."

Date: 2017-12-04 08:08 pm (UTC)Some days I truly wonder how much of it I can take but still feel, as I believe you do, that I've gotta be ready the next time there's an expression of need.
I am glad that you were at least able to talk, something I wish my silently-brooding grandson were more open to doing.
Hoping for you that the batteries get recharged, m'dear...

Date: 2017-12-04 10:40 pm (UTC)I have 3 who are older than Anah and they were so different from the current teen generation. More respectful, less opinionated comes to mind.
I'm too old to argue with a kid who probably does know more than I do (in some ways) for sure thinks faster and is so smart. Wore me out. But I rested for a while and started to feel better this afternoon.
Your saying "Some days I truly wonder how much of it I can take but still feel...," made me feel a whole lot better, shared concern is an easier burden.
Anah's mom, Erin, can still be silent and brooding, you have to pry information out of her, so I get that bit. Anah will talk if only for the sake of hoping to get the last word.
Thanks a bunch for hearing
Love and hugs and " keep on truckin'"
