The Bill I Wish I'd Gotten
Dec. 15th, 2017 02:45 pmToday's job was to go through the mail, get bills paid, resume sorting and pulling relevant docs for the settlement of my wife's estate.
So I picked up one rather thin envelope from the office of my medical provider thinking it was a bill.
But on a single page was a letter announcing the retirement of my personal physician and a the names of a few others, within the practice, who were accepting new patients.
I'd only been with Dr. B. for a couple of years, having transferred to him from another within the same practice.
That was on my wife's recommendation, one of the very real benefits of having a family member in the medical community. One which anyone outside of it probably wouldn't think of.
I really liked Dr. B. He's a nice guy with an excellent reputation within the medical community. He always seemed to understand where I was coming from, as far as my preferences and priorities, and was always willing to offer competent advice without pushing his own choices in non-emergent situations.
So, I wish him well and thank him for the brief but productive time we had as doctor and patient.
Now, however, I've gotta move on and play the game of health care roulette that everyone else plays.
To be honest, I'd rather be paying that bill that I thought was in the envelope...
