How It Works

I've spent a year buying toys, building things, trying to write and otherwise create.

And none of it has worked. Well, it's helped at times but hasn't been the sort of comprehensive answer I need to what is now my life.

Now, I'm looking at something else, something I'd considered doing before the events of the past couple of years, and may at last have the time and freedom and necessary state of mind to follow through on.

I'm considering the possibility of becoming an adult literacy volunteer.

And hoping to find in it something that I need for myself. Hoping to find it in the act of giving to others something that they may need as well.

Sometimes, I guess, that's just how it works...

Thanks, I think I just need a little more time to explore the idea and to be sure I'm fully committed to it...

Therein would lie my biggest challenge. I'm really lousy at commitment these days.

Well, we both know that there are times in life when it's pretty easy to get bumped off the rails. I've just gotta be sure, with something like this, that I'm really at a place where I can follow through with it...

Absolutely you have to be sure. I wouldn't want to make a commitment like that and not be able to carry through on it. I had a friend that worked in that program here at the local community college and really enjoyed it.
