My Pumped-up Kicks

thisnewdaySo yesterday, I ordered a new pair of Nike Air Monarch IVs, the shoe that I've worn over the years for fitness walking. The thing is, a year or so after I'd had my knee surgery, I was having so many other physical problems--which may have resulted from the aggressive walking style which I'd been accustomed to--that I finally just quit.
As a result, my only real exercise in the past several years has been the "geriatric routine" that I've adapted from the P/T scripts written for me after my knee and back surgeries. Lately, I've been doing these aggressively enough that I actually approach my aerobic threshold for a minute or two. Which, of course, isn't nearly enough.
So yesterday, to go back to where I started, I ordered the Nikes and this morning I called the local high school to see if the track was open to the public. To, you know, try to get back to where I was back then.
Which we all know is not really possible. But I'm hoping that with a more realistic approach to my walking routine I'll be able to recover some of the ground I've lost over those years by mostly sitting on my butt in front of this computer.
So now, I'm off to the Dick's Sporting Goods in the Destiny Mall to pick up my new shoes.
Where, hopefully, a better destiny of my own awaits. Along with my shoes. OK, giving it up, lol...
