Due to my daughter's suggestion that a salt-free diet consisting mostly of romaine lettuce would likely result in death by malnutrition much sooner than the high blood pressure which led me to embark on it, I left the house early in hopes of finding a low-sodium cookbook at the local B&N.

(LOL, meant to make this private and finish the thought later but I think I was a bit light-headed due to low blood sugar...)

You know, one of the largest sources of sodium in the American diet is actually commercial bread. If I'm remembering correctly, one slice of bread supplies 10% of your daily recommended intake of sodium.

Do you eat bread? If so, you might consider switching to low-salt bread. Or buying a bread machine and baking your own low-salt bread.

Dunno what your food preferences are, but I like Mediterranean diets in general. They do have some salt, but somehow, their overall effect on blood pressure is benign.
