I Should've Gotten the Melatonin...
Oct. 11th, 2018 03:13 amBecause, having awakened at 2:05 AM, I'm considering a trip across town to the infamous Southside to see if I can score a tab or two from some shadowy figure on that corner just off of South Ave.
Of course, I COULD just hop in the car and motor on over to the brightly-lit, open 24-hours-a-day Wegman's just down the hill from me. But that would be far less dramatic for purposes of a journal entry which will stand, albeit shakily, as the only thing I'll have to show for these hours of lost sleep.
But driving and hopping are two things I'm really not feeling the urge to do, right now, and so I'm sitting here pushing the qwerty keys. And the thing is, that irksome night-time urge to use the bathroom was apparently not the reason, this time, for suddenly waking and deciding that I couldn't go back to sleep.
Hence the conclusion that Melatonin might be the answer, this time. I even did a top-to-bottom search of the house, at this hour, convinced that SOMEWHERE I'd seen a bottle of the stuff perhaps acquired, at some point, by my late wife.
So I rummaged through the few things my daughter had brought here after her mother's time at Crouse followed by James Square followed again by Crouse. And found nada. Except a few reminders of things which, in a less zombified state, would've been, at the very least, disquieting.
So, I've made a cup of Starbuck's cocoa and am sitting here drinking it whilst I slump in front of the computer screen and fumble over its keys. The consumption of which beverage has only served to make it more certain that, in a couple of hours, I'll in fact be forced to get up to use the bathroom.
If, in fact, I've somehow been able, by then, to get back to sleep...
