Cloud-hidden, Whereabouts Unknown

This is one of those mornings when, having tried and been unable to get back to sleep, I've gotten up and begun my day only to realize, while doing some mundane task or other, that in that twilight between fully asleep and fully awake I've worked out answers to some of my life's most profound and perplexing problems but, not having recorded them in any way, have lost them again to that region above the cloudline where it might be said of me, as in the Chinese proverb, "My master is not here, he is on the mountainside, cloud-hidden, whereabouts unknown..."
