50 Screws

OMG, no man my age should be allowed to have this much fun. Not unless he's been recently examined by a medical professional and determined to be healthy enough for such intense and prolonged excitement. All of which happened in the aftermath of receiving 50 screws this afternoon.

OK, just a dang second. You can stop eyeballing me like that. You're the one with the dirty mind, lol.

What I mean is, my anxiously-awaited package from the Fastenere Co. arrived in the mail--a day ahead of the earliest date given for its delivery window--and I immediately went down to my workshop to see if the recommended replacement screws for my 2240 mod would actually fit.

And they did! (Which would seem to prove, apologists to the contrary, that size does indeed matter.)

Now, even though I'd had everything laid out on my side table, and had been over the installation procedure about a bazillion times in my head, it still took me a minute to get everything lined up, torqued down, and flawlessly functioning.

Which I did! (A corollary indication, to be fair, that experience does count.)

So, with the new multi-shot breech in place, I opened the blister pack which contained a new rotary magazine and, with a few final adjustments, got that locked and loaded.

Then, doing things a bit bass-ackwards--which I would never do in the case of an actual firearm--I ran upstairs and grabbed the pistol scope that had been relegated to my bedroom closet when I decided it really didn't work with my carbine-configured 2300.

Still harboring doubts about the fussy aiming technique it requires, I installed the extra-tall scope rings needed to clear the rotary mag and set up a rough cardboard target in my target box.

And, whadda ya know, the pellet chambered, the gun fired, the magazine cycled, and the next round chambered!

And, oh yeah, despite shaky hands and not-yet-zeroed-in scope, the pellet hit the target. LOL, after all the drama around this project, actually hitting a target was almost an afterthought.

But, all-in-all, so much learned and so much fun!

Which could, one might imagine, be a harbinger of other, unexpected pleasures lurking around the corners of these twilight years.

Oh jeez, there ya go again, lol...
