"breaking bread together" is very significant in many cultures. Perhaps he is too sensitive to this? More likely not. So what is the rest of the story? Did she leave with him? Did she eat with the family prior to? Inquiring minds and all that...

let me just say that, back in the 'fifties, ozzie & harriet might've done us all a huge favor by showing us a little more of who they really were. and that contemporary reality shows might do a similar favor by showing us a little less. so i'm just sittin' here, puttin' on my dinners, waitin' for that pendulum to swing somewhere closer to the middle...

hmmm. we have a theory at our church - to get people to come to an event ... "if you feed them, they will come..." and stay? come back?

yes, and i think that theory has some history - the loaves and fishes? and might also be analogous to the feeding of the soul...

in THAT account, Jesus tried to get away from the crowds, but they found Him anyway. the people stayed three days. Jesus worried about them and was reluctant to send them on their way "fasting" and because they were in a deserted place, the disciples wanted to know where they'd get food for them. Among them they had seven loaves and fish ... He gave thanks, broke them up into baskets and had them distributed among the people. And when they gathered the leftovers they had seven baskets full. (Matthew 15:29-38) And the number who ate were 4000 men, apart from women and children.

Perhaps their souls were being so well fed they did not wander off to find food.

Perhaps people shared with others.

Perhaps one's soul needs more feeding than the body.... perhaps there wouldn't be such "over-fed" Americans if their souls were satisfied???
