The Work That I Do
Jun. 8th, 2020 10:47 amThe sky is an amazing, clear blue this morning. And I hope that this may be a harbinger of what may lie ahead in the coming week.
Perhaps, with a good ride on the bike this morning and another tonight, I can help to make it so.
That will be my hope, that will be my dream, that will be the effort that I make and the work that I do...

Date: 2020-06-08 07:57 pm (UTC)They're actually within a few miles, and they're the reason I spent a small fortune on rooftop bike carriers for the Forester. But at this point IDK if I'm gonna have anyone around to help me get the bikes up and down.
There's also a new extension of a trail that runs along the shore of Onondaga Lake which is quite near here, but there are signs posted on the fence that borders it on both sides which warn not to go off the trail because it's built over the toxic waste beds left by Solvay Process/Allied Chemical/Honeywell Corp.
They've supposedly been "capped off"--as have the tons of toxins still lying on the bottom of the lake--but when local politicians started trumpeting the success of this "reclamation" of a potential recreational resource and were challenged to take a swim in it, there were no takers, as I recall, lol...

Date: 2020-06-09 03:12 pm (UTC)But I bought a good brand and a design that locks in the front forks, bought them for a life that I thought would roll right out in front of us because we were both ready for it.
So, wrong hardware, wrong vision of a life.
But I did have to laugh when you so matter-of-factly suggested the obvious in the face of the unthinkable, the unbearable.
So, thanks for that. I'm gonna take my ride, shortly, and then see what the rest of the day brings...
