Before the Storm

It's clear and beautiful outside, although colder than a proverbial mofo, and I'd love to take the bike out for one last ride before the storm. But, you know, all the calcium chloride still coating the shoulders of the road from two nights ago.

But my other thought is to take a run out to the store and cook up a big batch of chili or something to take into the city for my son, before this hits. I think I'm gonna do that!

Went to do groceries. WAlked around Aldi and then Wegmans. Got home put stuff away went outside for 'a walk' and the wind was so cold and my hip started to ache. So I went home. I'm feeling like a sissy senior.

Great, hope it turns out well! I made a batch of low-sodium black bean, corn & lentil chili in which, after the ground beef is browned, everything else is just thrown in the pan and simmered for about 90 minutes.

It's pretty flavorful, even in the absence of added salt, and I actually prefer it now to what I used to make for the family, back in the day. My son liked it too--at least that's what he said, lol...

I always admire those who can handle the cold. Me, I'm a reptile: snow is beautiful as long as it is no where near me!

I can handle the cold as long as I have my base layer, heavy fleece mid-layer, and wind-breaker top layer.

And earmuffs and gloves. And a 68-degree house with steaming hot coffee waiting for me at the end of the ride.

Well, you know, I have to make the coffee and not have forgotten my keys, lol.
