I Was Warned
Apr. 9th, 2021 03:30 pmYesterday, at mid-afternoon, I went for my second dose of the Covid vaccine. My grandson and his little sister had agreed to start the yardwork an hour earlier than originally planned so that I could bring them to the house, go and get my shot, and then be back in time to take them home.
They only work a couple of hours, so I had just about enough time to get them started, drive down to the pharmacy, make a side trip afterwards to pick up yard waste bags and a couple of tools, and then facilitate the wrap-up when they were finished.
I'd read that the second shot was sometimes more challenging due to the immune system's more robust response. But I had planned to ride the bike and do my workout, have dinner and maybe get to bed early, once I'd gotten the kiddos home.
Didn't work out that way. And neither did I. Workout. That way.
Three hours in, my shoulder was hurting--as I'd expected--but I was also struggling with a feeling of fatigue and possible a low-grade fever.
I did indeed turn in early, around 7:30, but woke up an hour later and couldn't get back to sleep.
I took some Tylenol, to ease the shoulder pain, but wasn't able to get back to sleep until about 2 in the morning.
I still got up around 6 or 7 but only stayed up for a couple of hours. And kept repeating that cycle throughout the day. So no bike ride or workout today, either, I suspect.
I guess I feel a little better this afternoon. I've just eaten what was going to be my dinner and hope to at least remain upright long enough to contemplate what tomorrow might look like if I'm feeling better by then.
It hasn't been as bad as I remember my flu shot being, but I really need for this fog to start lifting so I can start getting back to what passed for a normal life before yesterday afternoon...

Stay hydrated! The side effects will pass more quickly.

Date: 2021-04-09 11:03 pm (UTC)And thanks, Patrizia, for confirming that and for the reminder about hydration. As much attention as I've paid to that, in my years as a wanna-be fitness freak, I've been overlooking it now when it's the most critical. I WILL get on it!
Hope you've both had a good day...
