I'm Seeing (Apple) Red

thisnewdayArrgh! The paint that I got, hoping to color-match the new load platform to the frame of the hand truck, is about a shade too light.
It's a high gloss latex by Rust-Oleum and I have a small can of exactly the same paint in a high gloss black. I'm wondering if I could mix just a bit of the black into the red in order to get a closer match with the frame.
Even if it just tones down the brightness of it a bit, I think that would be an improvement. Maybe I'll add just a drop at a time, do a color swatch, let it dry, and then continue depending on how it looks.
Where are the artists when you need them? Or any artistic sense on my part, lol...
