The Computer Delta Variant

 My computer, despite being fully vaccinated by McAfee, has apparently fallen victim to the dreaded Computer Delta Variant. Or maybe it's just old age. Yeah, probably that.

Anyway, I'm pecking away on an almost equally ancient Galaxy Tab A which has a decent keyboard but a teeeny little screen and a totally unintuitive menu for site navigation.

And so, although I've not been much engaged here anyway, of late, I can now at least invoke this lamo excuse until I decide on an actual replacement for my desktop.

Until then--or until the next time I feel compelled to torture myself by pecking away on THIS sorry thing--wishing everyone the best...

Thanks, it's been a serious PITA. And, by that, I don't mean a Middle Eastern-style sandwich, lol.

Hope you're safe and healthy. And that Anah is doing well at college. Wouldn't know about our Ana.

I sent her a Starbucks gift card, her first week, but her mom says she doesn't check her mail. Which I took as a signal to, maybe, lower my expectations?

WHAT?!? She's in her first week of college, first time away from home, and checking for mail from the grandfather she's seen maybe twice in her life isn't a priority? Well.

Update on Ana, lol. I received a very nice, very welcome acknowledgement of my card yesterday which turned into a very funny exchange in which she observed that, of course, we manage to blame our grandkids for everything...

Well, I'm safe at least. Took a serious fall about 3 weeks ago and have been using a walker since then. (NO FUN) Then a couple of days ago fell again, gratefully on the opposite side of the first one. Am in pain, immobile, but reading like a mad woman.

Glad I read this as I have been meaning to send Anah a snapchat and now would be a good time to do that. Anah is doing well so far.

Oh... no! The falls, I'm so sorry! Becoming a fear of mine, although I've not told anyone. I hope you're recovering well and glad you're reading.

Ana's joke was about my blaming Jason for unboxing my B&N book order so far ahead of the meeting date of the book club I've decided to rejoin that I wouldn't remember anything I'd read. (Another growing concern of mine.)

It's B.A. Shapiro's "The Art Forger" and, despite my sworn intentions, I started reading it this morning--my first in a while. So, maybe it's a good thing.

I'm so glad your Anah is doing well and I wish our granddaughters the absolute best.

Good luck w. replacing the desktop. I won't offer any suggestions, don't know much about laptops except I can use one to do what little I do online. Tablets... I have one for games and reading books - don't try to type on it bc I can't see the keyboard well enough or the pages. Last week I discovered this new laptop lets me get internet in the bedroom. The previous laptop the cats helped to come apart literally by knocking it over one too many times... did not want to connect internet and I got out of habit of using it in bed.

Thanks, I really do need something better if I'm to do anything productive online--my eyesight and clumsy fingers being but two of the impediments I'm battling on this freaking tablet.

(I did at least solve the dexterity problem by getting a touch-screen stylus at Staples office supply yesterday. But TEN DOLLARS for a five-inch plastic tube capped with rubber? Arrgh!)

As for the cats, I don't have any except for Leo who lives next door and proudly leaves the admittedly astonishing fruits of his hunting skills displayed near my back steps, lol.

On the other hand, I probably don't need any feline enhancement to my own, I think, age-related clumsiness indoors...
