After the (2nd) Fall

After my second fall--yes, there was another one which I'm still trying to write about--I've been a bit slower getting back on my feet.
I rode twice yesterday and exercised for the first time in about a week. The bike rides have helped push blood flow through the jammed-up knees and thereby reduced both pain and swelling.
The right elbow, though, which took the main impact in the second fall, is still swollen and very tender to the touch. The good thing is that I actually have no joint pain throughout the full range of motion.
Anyway, did all that yesterday, plus some work in the shop. And then slept for 9-1/2 hours last night! As somebody once said, "Ya slept that long, ya musta needed it!"
I'm pretty sure that, in my case at least, they would've been right!
Hope everyone has a good day. And stays safe. With no falls, lol...

Date: 2021-10-21 08:47 pm (UTC)And yes, no more falls or arguments with the fitness equipment.
Hope you've had a good day otherwise...

Date: 2021-10-22 09:36 am (UTC)Your experience is one of the reasons I don't bike anymore even though I was a demon bike rider back in the day.
I keep dreading how much damage the (inevitable) small crash-and-falls will do to me.

Date: 2021-10-22 02:47 pm (UTC)I know I could simply lock it into the trainer for the duration but feel like I die a little when I have to do that in the fall. And then panic as I sense the closeness of the basement walls.
I've thought, too, about an adult trike, multi-speed, etc, but know it'd not be safe on these narrow, poorly-maintained shoulders and busy streets and roads. Thus the thoughts about a folding bike.
Anyway, I guess we'll see. Hope you have a good "tromp" today and that all else is well with you...

Date: 2021-10-22 08:04 pm (UTC)Glad to hear you're making progress. I know it gets slower, as we get older, but hopefully, if we do the work, it happens.
Also glad you're listening to your body because "no pain, no gain" obviously doesn't work anymore.
Kinda wish I were a swimmer because that seems to be the best kind of no-impact/high aerobic workout for folks like us.
Wishing you the best, E...
