Took my first ride on the bicycle, indoors or out, in several days. Nothing outdoors, in that time, due to persistent, sometimes heavy rain and nothing indoors because the trainer, which my bike locks into, is on the side of the basement with my workshop and on-going projects have been generating dust and debris which it won't make sense to clean up until they're done. I have been pushing to finish the worst parts of them so that I can at least vacuum in anticipation of sustained colder, wetter weather ahead.

It was, in fact, pretty chilly this AM, mid- to high-40s, but the shoulders of the streets and roads were dry and that's the main thing. I know how to dress, and have the gear--saved from 40 years ago, to ride in the cold. Still, it's a totally different kind of ride, the benefit coming not from maintaining speed or cadence, but from the constant, albeit uneven effort against the gusting wind and resistant bulk of heavier clothes.

With that done, it's back to the basement where I'm modifying a cheapo folding table to use for painting the decking for the storage dolly project I started several weeks ago. (That's come together in the form of a very functional prototype which I'll have my grandson work from, if/when he decides to make his way over here again.)

To the table, I've added removable shelves and backing for storage of paint supplies, etc. The shelves are removable for easy take-down and storage and the backing is to keep things from sliding off the back of the shelves and to stiffen the spindly, telescoping legs of the table. I've also gotta find and modify a low-profile window fan to ventilate the basement once we start painting/ finishing.

Anyway, that's what's up for today. Wishing everyone a good one...

I left for my walk at 9:15 this morning and fought the wind all the way, but that November sun felt good. Walked about 7.5 miles. I have to tell you the scenery is getting BORING.
