Just listened to an NPR segment called "Songs of Remembrance" in which listeners talk about the song which, for them, memorializes a loved one whose life was lost to Covid.

Today's segment featured a young woman by the name of Summer Austria Greenway who spoke about her dad who had died two years ago in the pandemic..

The song she chose was the Israel Kamakawiwo'ole version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" which had been played for the father/daughter dance at her wedding.

The calm and measured explanation of her choice, as she shared some of the details of his life, was in subtle counterpoint to the emotion which, only once, threatened to break the narrative and her voice.

It's not an "easy listen," but if you want to hear a genuinely heartfelt story told in an authentically human voice, you might try this one.

You can hear Summer's tribute to her dad at www.wbur.org/hereandnow/2022/05/16/covid-remembrance-rainbow, where you'll also find additional pictures provided by the family...
