Reclaiming a life

For the past several weeks, I've been pushing a bit to get things done around the house. It's become quite evident that expecting anyone else to take the initiative is completely futile. Along the way I've done a few things that I've known weren't very prudent considering the condition of my back. And until a couple of days ago, I'd gotten away with it.

Then the son's new girlfriend apparently flushed some sanitary products down the toilet, causing it to overflow. I was finishing up with a mop pail of disinfectant when I leaned and turned slightly to the right with the pail in my right hand and felt that sickening movement in the area of the fractured L-5 that I was supposed to get fixed over a year ago but postponed due to my Dad's situation.

I've tried resting it, but to no avail. And tonight I can't even get comfortable enough to sleep. Anyway, over the weekend I decided to call the orthopedic surgeon and the insurance carrier. I was afraid that what I'd hear from the doc was that the pre-op testing would have to be repeated and from insurance that they wouldn't pay to have it done a second time.

So on Monday I made the necessary phone calls and, in fact, the tests have to be re-done. But, surprisingly, insurance will pay. So I've got an appointment with the doc for a preliminary consult next Monday. Not really looking forward to this ordeal, but would really like to reclaim my life, maybe even go back to work at something I enjoy doing.

pardon me, but was the girl raised in a barn? Some feral female from da woodses?? I'm outraged on behalf of all females who know how to take care of personal hygiene!

She should have been taking care of the mess. Okay, rant over.

hey, anything i can do to help enlighten the younger generation. just never been surrounded by such a wealth of opportunities.
