Happy Bloomsday! Which I thought might be an auspicious occasion to go to Barnes & Noble with my Father's Day gift card (thanks Kath and Kev and Ana and Eddie and Nicky) to purchase a copy of James Joyce's Ulysses. Which, I'm not terribly proud to say, I've never read. Nor Dubliners, nor Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. Nor the uber dense Finnegan's Wake.
However, when I got to the appropriate shelf, I found three different editions of the novel and mention of numerous others. So I decided to come home to sort through the choices and to possibly discover a biography or two that might be read as a companion to the literary works. (Regardless of the rationale, it did pain me considerably to walk out of the store empty-handed.)
That being the case, I'll probably just order both, or all, online since they're usually a couple of bucks cheaper that way and, for orders over $25, there's no charge for shipping and handling.
