Exhausted

Last week, a few hours after my second "autologous" blood donation, I got a phone call from the Red Cross regional office in Rochester saying there had been a problem with my donation. During the centrifuging process, the bag had leaked so the donated blood was considered contaminated and had to be discarded. And would I consider coming in for another donation?

What choice did I have? I'm facing a three-hour surgery in less than two weeks, now. On top of that, I was informed that I would be expected to pay the up-front fee of eighty dollars out of my own pocket, even though the problem was with materials they supplied. So yesterday I donated my third unit of whole blood in three weeks.

The first two weeks, I did OK. Now, I'm exhausted and wondering if I can really recover sufficiently to have a good outcome from my surgery. Wish me luck. Or maybe something better than I seem to have had so far...
