I don't remember if I read them the whole story. (The writers' group that I used to belong to.) I don't remember if I even wrote the whole story. And that was only a few years ago, the writing and the reading of it. Whereas, the story itself was a lifetime ago.

It was Russell Hammond and Penny Lane and Ben Fong-Torres that made me remember it, made me remember my own story. Made me wonder if I'd ever really told it. Made me think that it might still be possible to tell it right and get it out there.

Not on the cover of Rolling Stone. Just, you know, somewhere that someone might read it and say, "Wow, so that's what it was like to be not quite Almost Famous, to have lived that life, back in the '60s..."

I really do want to hear this story.

Huh. Only thing I can think of is the communal farm that I lived on, once upon a time in the Finger Lakes. The lakes that were carved by advancing glaciers in the last Ice Age. Five of them, hence the name.

And there were a lot of stories, really, as many as there were people who lived there, as well as the ones who were just passing through. Which is maybe what all of us were doing.

Passing through, maybe pausing for a minute, before moving on to another place in this life...

Perhaps the pauses are what life is all about.
